1. “News” that didn’t deserve a news conference. Leave it to a Minnesota Congressman to think his kids read his political junk mail. Read this story and watch this video on KARE to see his absurd quote which explains how Democratic U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, former Democratic VP Walter Mondale, and our Democratic State Auditor Rebecca Otto have too much time on their hands. The “issue” is a cartoon mailer attacking Al Franken, from the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Ill-conceived? Sure. But it’s hardly as atrocious as the Dems are making it out to be:
Otto said at a news conference, “The clear intention is to tempt children into opening the piece, and I don’t want my child exposed to this type of tactic.” Here’s a novel thought, don’t let them see your mail. Seriously, to think that we pay these people to represent our interests in Minnesota and Congress.
2. In “35 Tips for getting started in social media,” Mike Fruchter is very beginner-friendly, but the information proves beneficial even for the social media savvy.
3. Twitter got some recognition yesterday in the Wall Street Journal as a tool for more and more businesses to use.
4. Freelance Folder offers “7 Daily Time Wasters and How to Get Your Time Back.” Good stuff, and I especially can relate to #1 – Slow or Old Technology. Because I edit video on a computer almost everyday, I have a lot of time to wait during the exporting of he video file. Maybe I just need some more RAM. Ugh.
5. And, putting politics aside to focus on the creative use of YouTube, a week from election day, a tip of the cap to the username “unvetted” on YouTube. Nice work on “The Vet Who Did Not Vet”:
