Wanted to point out the new interface Google has created for Google Blog Search.
At first glance, you’ll see how it has several categories on the left, Politics, US, World, etc… that can cluster your search to see the most recent blog posts written on a given topic. The middle of the screen contains the most popular topics by default.
You can see in the photo above that Google also lists the number of blog posts on a given topic, sometimes with a photo, to provide a numerical look at a topic’s popularity.
When you click on that number (I clicked on “279 blogs”) you go to a page listing the various posts on that topic, as well as a chart, showing the number of posts published to the Web at various parts of the day today:
I like the new look and functionality. It allows you to see what’s popular at any point during the day. I can easily see how it will lead me to blogs I don’t even know about yet, or don’t have as an RSS feed in my Google Reader.
ReadWriteWeb has a review of Google Blog Search. You can also read more about Blog Search on the Google blog.
