Tuesday’s Top 5

1. Apple has debuted a new Web ad, currently running on sites like Time.com. It’s called “Stop Switching to Mac.” Curious? So was I.

As a Mac user, I love all the Mac vs. PC ads. Good to see that good ol’ PC keeps hangin’ around, on and off the Web. I’ll be following Apple’s “Let’s Rock” event today – likely new iPods or lower prices on them, and some kind of subscription option for iTunes.

2. I’m still getting to know Twitter and all the ways to use it. Home Office Lawyer has a nice rundown of some of the applications that work with it for Twitter newbies like me.

3.The Pew Internet and American Life Project is out with a new study of podcast downloading. Of note, the number of Internet users who said they had downloaded a podcast in August 2006 was 12%. It’s now up to 19%. Seems small, but it’s a steady climb as more and more people “get it,” in terms of where video and the Web are working together – and where it’s headed. A PDF of the research is available.

4. I missed this from Chris Brogan a week or so ago but just discovered it and it’s worth highlighting… “20 Free eBooks About Social Media.”

5. I’ll get back to presidential politics now with a funny video from LisaNova on YouTube. A well-done spoof of McCain and Palin that even Republicans will find amusing, with some good one-liners:
