Tiger Woods gets to shoot a “Jesus Shot” in a video EA Sports has put on YouTube to promote his new video game, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09.
It’s allegedly in response to a video that a “fan” of the game, Levinator25, put on YouTube last year, showing a screen shot from the ‘08 version of the game where video game Tiger plays a shot while standing on water. Get it? A “Jesus Shot”? The ‘09 game officially goes on sale August 26th, so it’s fitting that EA is capitalizing on this now with some creativity. Levinator25 appears to be legit, but you never know, right?
Watch Tiger’s video to see what I’m talking about:
Whether we all believe EA Sports didn’t plant the “fan” video as a setup for the “viral” video or not, it’s still a fun video in a long line of creative ads Woods has done over the years. And as I write this, EA’s “Jesus Shot” response video – which they posted Tuesday – already has 540,000 views on YouTube and counting.
Tiger is the latest sports superstar to enter the land of make believe on YouTube, remember this Kobe Bryant video, showing him “jump” over an Aston Martin back in April, making sure to show off his Nike’s?
Thanks to eXtra For Every Publisher for the heads-up, who spotted the Tiger Woods video on Micro Persuasion.
